I now grow Long Toms and San Marzano Redortas.

My SM's last year ate up all the lime I could give them and more. I had also planted with lots of eggshells. I ended up eventually dumping foli-cal on them every month and the BER finally stopped.

Keep an eye on them. It's only July. You'll need more calcium for these before long. Good luck to both of us--our weather has been so crazy we can't afford to lose one single tomato.H2https://www.blogger.com/profile/05697081429612903875noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3161424655689380473.post-52825458284798612392009-07-04T08:14:01.599-05:002009-07-04T08:14:01.599-05:00Erik, I'm so eager for a picture of that myste...Erik, I'm so eager for a picture of that mystery squash, though I am loving the suspense...H2https://www.blogger.com/profile/05697081429612903875noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3161424655689380473.post-85867029184232861402009-07-04T08:08:50.916-05:002009-07-04T08:08:50.916-05:00Hi eichelbug:

Being the second year I used SIPS, I didn't know how much of the hydrated lime would still be in the soil and added less than I maybe should have. Obviously I erred on the side of not enough. Hopefully the hydrated lime slurry will clear it up!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3161424655689380473.post-89423680146591474122009-07-02T15:03:23.095-05:002009-07-02T15:03:23.095-05:00Very inspiring.
